hi all,
i purchased a split charging kit,and one of the connections goes to the starter solenoid.as i don`t know where that is,and i got home in the dark,i thought i`d ask on here.i`m sure it might well be obvious when i lift the bonnet or seats tomorrow, but i thought i`d ask first anyway.
thanks
jamie

On all modern starters (SFAIK) the solenoid is fitted directly onto the actual motor and that should be somewhere on the bellhousing between the engine
and gearbox.
I would have said on "top" of the starter motor, but not all starters are fitted "upright".

Exactly right, it's to pre-engage the starter, 100% definate on a diesel, and I can't think any different on a 2 1/2 ltr petrol.
