Coolant loss / overheat / over pressure

Looking at all the posts regarding the above problems, was wondering, isn't there something we can use from other vehicles which will do the job? Personaly I've trained myself to look at my temperature guage every time I look in the mirror.

If you've got the standard temperature gauge, the engine will probably have cooked before the gauge moves

Yup. Audio alarm based devices are the best as your eyes have more important things to do when driving. In a cockpit situation, any critical sytem would I am sure have an audio beep as last resort as they know that, whatever pilots 'ought' to do, in a high workload situation, or when fatigued, instrument scanning may take a back seat and / or take a snooze.
What you don't want of course is beepers going off for every darned thing (look how we hate Mazdas overuse of beepers). But for critical, yet occasional, scenarios beepers are the biz

If you have a standard temp gauge in your Bongo it gets to the "normal" 11 o'clock position when your cylinder head is at just 55 degrees C....belive it or not it will be still at 11 o'clock at 115 degrees C. This is not a normal running temp. By the time it does start to move it is often to late even if you do notice it. Watching your gauge is not a lot of good.

Indeed.
Fit a Mason alarm. It "undamps" the standard system & gives a more accurate indication of whats going on down below.
That in conjunction with a low coolant alarm, covers MOST impending disaster issues & is all I need to be confident that all is well.
