Hi I'm a new member  and I live in Burton Rossett just outside of Wrexham. I don't have a Bongo yet but I am looking and hope to buy one early next year.
I am profoundly deaf, an insulin dependant diabetic, and a wheelchair user. Fortunately I can drive an automatic so a Bongo will do me :!: I may have to have a Bongo with a towbar so I could tow a small trailer with my wheelchair in it so it's not in the way.
Regard,
Geoff Dowson.

Geoff, I suggest that you try before you buy.

It is a fair height to climb up into the Bongo front seats.

You should be fine in a bongo if you have some mobility and very strong arms. I always find getting into my Bongo easier if I grab the grab handle and give myself a good pull up. The siding door and space available in a Bongo will make storing a folding wheelchair much easier than in a car. The bigest problem that you will have is reversing the Bongo, you will be almost totally blind unless you fit a reversing camera. Being hard of hearing sensors will be no good for you, I have that problem.

If you have the time get up to Wheelquick in Wigan and have a look at what Mike has to offer, you won't be disapointed or be sold a pup. Plenty of Bongos for sale by members on this site and you could get a real bargain if you know your onions.

Oh! and welcome to the madhouse. If you get a Bongo in time get yourself to the Snowdonia meet in March. I will be there. You should still drop in for a visit even if you do not have a Bongo by then, members will be pleased to show you what is available.

Thanks Pippin & Mountaingoat,
I can Manage to go distance in my wheelchair, short distances by crutches and very short distances by foot aslong as I can lean against something... ie I can shuffle from the drivers door to the sliding door around a Bongo. Mountaingoat has it sussed I have good upperbody strength and the handhold is very usefull.
I have diabetic neuropathy which has weakened the nerves in my lower back and left leg... I currently drive a citroen C5 3 litre automatic... a nice car, but not for sleeping or cooking in.
I am hopeing to get a Bongo about Feb or Mar '09 if I get one in time I will bring it to the snowdon meet, if not I be the odd looking one in the Citroen C5 !!!
Can hardly wait to get my Bongo.
Regards,
Geoff Dowson.

I am guessing Geoff that you will be one of those blue badge holders who don't have to pay road tax so the SVA change that will take place on 30th April 2009 will not affect you. But the top wack road tax may put off others from buying your Bongo if you later choose to upgrade to a better model. http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =1&t=21652

You did not say if you would have company in your Bongo or not. If you have then you should go for an AFT with electric blinds. More headroom for moving around inside and easier for you to set up the bongo for sleeping plus extra sleepng space for any companion. Also a 4 wheel drive setup if you intend to camp in rally fields at Bongo meets or wild camp.

Hi Leeang,
Just wondering where you go to get a Bongo serviced in or around Wrexham?
Regards,
Geoff Dowson.

If anyone is struggling in the Wrexham area to find a Bongo friendly garage for servicing etc. I can highly recommend The Moreton garage, near Chirk.
01691 773003.
He recently fully serviced, cam belt included, and MOT`d my Freda at a very reasonable price.

Ask for Lance and tell him Howie sent you

Hi Leeange. I think your nearest Bongo specialist garage, with a good reputation, would be Ian Taylor at 36 Stafford Street, Market Drayton TF9 1HY. Tel 01630 656006. About half as far as Wheelquick. Did a good job with a hose change and coolant system refill/bleed for me. Cheers.
