which way to turn the fuel filter

I have bought a chain wrench to use with my socket set. To remove the fuel filter - looking down from above the filter do I turn the filter anti clockwise (away from my body) or clockwise. I have tried both ways without budging it ( new one put in by Wheelquick a few mobths ago) and would prefer some advice rather than bodge it. I have a short tommy bar to reach into the space but there is still not much room to turn the wrench - maybe I need to get a longer one (tommy bar)!

Thanks
Ron

Looking down from on top, turn it clockwise but do not forget to remove the sediment sensor plug.
I found it a lot easier to undo the bolts holding the whole fuel filter assembly in place, then lifting the assembly up to rest it on the crossmember and undo it that way. Be careful, just loosen the filter and then put the assembly back in its proper place and finally remove the filter cartridge completely, making sure you do not spill any fuel.
When re-assembling, wipe a smear of oil onto the seal, this will ease the process for next time.
Hope that is clear, if not just let me know and I will try and get a picture for you.

Wow - thanks Tony. I put the query on, looked at some other forum messages, left a suggestion for someone and lo and behold I have an answer.

Tony - might I suggest that you have your description added to the fact sheet for changing the fuel filter. It made the job so easy, once i freed the filter body I could turn the casing by hand and although the method seems obvious once done I didnt think of it at the time. Partly because I'm reluctant to start removing nuts and bolts without considering the consequences first.

before you put the filter back ,fill with injector fluid cleaner ,then carefully put back, this will clean the injectors obviously and also will make it that the filter is primed and it should start easier.
