Auto Gearbox Problem

Hi guys,
Need some help.
Today my auto box started playing up. In between any change on acceleration the revs go really high, kind of like slipping the clutch before it then engages gear.
This has happened suddenly, just after the LPG service. I watched the guy doing this, all he did was change an LPG filter near the dipstick so I can't see that that would directly have caused an issue.
I got them to check both the car ECU fault codes on engine and auto box, nothing was showing.
Any ideas what the problem could be. I've checked that none of the connectors/wires under the centre console are loose or damaged.

Hi, oil changed 7K ago, checked level and good and oil clean.
Would the throttle sensor cause it to slip like that do you think?
Do you think I'll do any damage if I drive it as I need to get it to somewhere for repair.
Thanks for your help.

Dunno. The throttle sensor gets blamed for a lot of faults like this. I seem to recall reading a few posts similar to this and the problem was with the throttle sensor. Try a search and see if anything turns up that sounds like your problem. It should be driveable without damaging anything other than your nerves as the box changes up and down when it shouldn't! Just take it steady.

Hi,
Thanks for your help. Some research on here regarding the TPS has had some results, hoping it's that.
I'm also hoping if it is this then I can get a replacement as mine is petrol and knowing my luck of late it will be a different part.
Thanks again.
Andy

Just been speaking with the bongo mechanic.
He is wondering what would happen if I disconnected the TPS to see if it made a difference?
Could this be a bad thing to do?
It's booked in next week so I'm hoping to get it working again soon.
Thanks guys.

Update,
I ordered a new throttle position sensor direct from Mazda in the end as it had next day delivery and was the cheapest price.
Managed to get it fitted this morning (not easy as access quite restricted).
Just been for a long drive, gears change fine now, I'm well pleased, had visions of vast expense.
Thanks for all your help, much appreciated.

£146 inc delivery, the one on the petrol is different, 4 connectors. This was from local mazda dealer, they worked out cheapest by quite a way, and could deliver in 2 days, all others were quoting £160 plus vat plus delivery and saying up to 10 working days. Expensive for what it is but I'm pleased it works, nice to have the bongo back again.

Great news - its always a worry that diagnosis could be tricky, prolonged and cure expensive. All worked out pretty well in this case. Hurrah!
