Bongo Fury

My starter started playing up last week, just as I was about to head back to St Malo to get the ferry home from Brittany - just as I filled up with fuel , got it going eventually with a bit of gentle hammer tapping
I got the contacts & plunger orderded from Auto electrical Supplies Southampton - 023 80211988 as found in the compatible parts database, & kept my fingers crossed, it's played up a few times while I waited for the bits to arrive - which they did this morning. Half an hour later, bongo wouldn't start no matter what , with just over an hour to spare before I needed to get into town for an appointment, the clock was ticking
45 minutes later - job done & on my way Big thanks to Ozric for the youtube video , saved me a big wodge of time & gave me the confidence to think I could get it done in time.

If anyone is having starter problems & knows the difference between a spanner & a screwdriver - get on & do it youself - it is DEAD easy, it was about £20 for the bits & I reckon just about anyone could do it

kirsty next time we have a meet i will bring my spare (old ) starter with new repair peices for you to fix while i wait

Well done, that's a job I can see I'll have to do sometime 110,000 miles is up soon but my Bongo has mainly done longish journeys (both with me and the previous owner) so maybe the starter isn't quite that bad yet.

BTW they say everybody has a doppleganger, well Mrs S and I met Kirsty's last week in Luxembourg.
I just looked at Mrs S and started to say "Who does...." and didn't get to finish as Mrs S just said "Firey balls".
Guess what the double does for a living? She works in the service bay of Hela, a sort of German/Luxembourgish version of Costco, but without the food. I don't think a dodgy starter would have fazed her either.

Your contacts looked the same as my old'ens There must be some force to knock the channel into the contacts. Did you notice the vehicle starting faster the first time, like I did?

As you said, it's an easy job to do, and at around £20 it's just a wee bit cheaper than a new starter!!!!

Scanner - bear in mind I only just came back over the channel last week - you sure it wasn't me

YBB - anytime - it'd take all of 10 minutes if the starter's already off - even you could do it

Only if you were moonlighting fitting tyres in Luxembourg.
