Snowdonia In Springtime.

79 was about the last decent winter we had - there was a bit of a flurry easter 81.
79 i was working at the local hospital - first week in january i did a week long shift because the staff from town couldnt get up here - nursing cooking cleaning the lot it was hard work but good fun - the last day snow fell out of the sky was 3rd may but there was still snow lying on the ground on 3rd june. - see i havnt always been a northern wimp.

we used to live down the road and there's some fab walks along the roman road and to aber lake...we used to walk across the mountain to aber then stop in the pub and walk back along the beach...great promenade on llanfairfechan

That must have been a very severe winter as Aber falls are only a few feet above sea level and it's not very often it freezes to any great extent. It's not even mentioned in the 'winter climbs' guide..!

just had a look at this thread,looks the business,in snowdonia as well,looked at the menu for the pub grub and they do spotted dick for pudding,got to go just for that,not many places do spotted dick.cant say yes or no for coming,will have to leave that up to mike,see if he looks at it,

Yeh it was amazing and i was only a kid but realised how amazing it was even then....must have been late 70's or even early 80's...no date on the pic , but I remember taking it

You are right Debbie it was in the late 1970,s. I have dug out some old photographs of myself and my nephew Peter climbing Snowdon in February 1978, that must have been the year.

You will have a wee problem if you want to see these views of Snowdon Gary & Tina. The Bongo Meet campsite is on the opposite side of the mountain from where Snowdon looks much different. You will need to drive round Pen-y-pass on the Pass of Llanberis and walk to Llyn Llydaw on the low level miners track to see Snowdon in its full glory.

I am really tempted but it is a long way down the motorway and I still don't have my MS-50 Cruise Control fitted.
Put me down as a remote possibility with leccy if possible.

As far as I know at the moment Tony, all pitches have leccy & water too, whether you need it or not.
