Bongo Fury

Hi, Is the engine restricted on the Bongo. If so does it affect MPG etc.. I am not looking to go fast but i have seen ebay items talking about increased efficiency from removing restrictors. any thoughts.
p.s getting my Bongo on Friday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The vehicles I know of that are deliberately "restricted" are 50cc mopeds.

In japan the speed limit is quite low and in my old Townace there was a audable warning when you went over the speed limit which I called a binger, and still have, as I removed it.

I think the delimiter you talk of is because some cars are restricted to that speed limit in japan.(guess)

They list them as fitting several cars and usualy chip the speedo to miles at the same time

the details of removing this restriction are on a converter from kph to mph

Very doubtul that a big heavy beast as the bongo is anyway restricted other than the fuel pump governer..(best left alone)

It's as good as it gets really but on a lighter note a mate of mine imported a Nissan 350z called a fairlady in japan and it's restricted to 112mph
Not bad for a 2 seat sports car with a 3.5ltr V6 engine.

I believe that all native japanese vehicles are limited to 112MPH. I have only ever managed to squeeze 107MPH out of my bongo (on a test track of course) So whether the bongo actually CAN reach 112 is probably more to do with the gearing than a restrictor i'd have thought.

Anybody that has the nerve to take an AFT over 90 for any period of time must have nerves of steel! They become a little "twitchy" past 90...so i've been told.

All diesels are governed, and I'm with Nevets, don't mess with it, it is there for a good reason.

That aside I've not heard af any type of restrictor, 'sept the price of diesel.

I thought a chip could only delimit something fitted with an ECU, which the older diesel Bongos haven't got.

The speedm8 chip will only convert KMH to MPH on a bongo.
