Bongo Fury

Hi. Can't find a factsheet on exhaust manifold gasket change. Any advice? Is it fairly straightforward. Tips appreciated.

Try looking in the head gasket factsheet - I think its covered there. Not too tricky if you've got the right tools. The most fiddly bit is undoing the nuts under the manifold behind the turbo. The factsheet says to remove turbo from manifold first. I was unable to do this as the nuts were rusted solid, so it had to come off in one lump. Access to the lower bolts is very tight. Ideally you need a 13mm (?) ratchet spanner with swivel head.

I'd allow 2 hours to do the job, but if you ever had to do it again, I reckon it could be done in under an hour.

Are you sure you need to change the gasket, or is a manifold stud that's broken?

Thanks Simon. Yes its no.1 broken stud. Has been blowing for a long time so I thought it best to change gasket in case its damaged.

It's a metal gasket and it might just have survived the blow. Might be wirth trying replacing the stud in place (I did that last month) and trying it.

When you have a few minutes to spare could you talk me through it ie type of drills etc. Thanks a lot
