hi all,
many of you will know that i have a`tappetty`v6.it was stood nealy a year before i bought it.it couldn`t be sva`d and the dealer had no idea about doing camper conversions-which i had done, then registered it.
anyway, now we aren`t going away til next year,i want to remove the camshafts and inspect/remove/dismantle/clean the hydraulic lifters/tappets and have struggled to find the engine manual.all i want is the torque settings for the camshafts and anything else i might disturb.
i`m HOPING.....to remove the camshaft/rocker covers, then unbolt the camshafts, then gently.....lift them while still`in place`in the timing belt, then remove the hydraulic tappets to dismantle them.
HOWEVER...if this isn`t possible,i`ll simply remove the timing belt and do it that way, aligning the timimg marks on the camshafts, and crankshaft, when reassembling,in which case i`ll need the torque settings for the crankshaft pulley and the timing belt tensioner.
NOW...the closest manual i have is a 1996 mazda mpv,2.5 v6 dohc.the torque settings i can find in that so far are:
upper idler pulley 28-38 lb/ft
crankshaft pulley 116-122 lb/ft
timing belt cover (m6 bolts)70-95 in-lb/ft
timing belt cover(m10 bolts)23-38 lb/ft
timing belt tensioner 14-18 lb/ft
rocker arm assembly 14-19 lb/ft
camshaft mounting bolts70-95 lb/ft
i think that is all i have at present.someone out there must have worked on a v6,either to change a timing belt or other engine work.
please can someone out there tell me if i should be ok with these figures.i can pretty much work through the information that i have, and see if any lifters are sticking/stuck,or failing that,if i have any camshaft damage.
thanks so much in advance.
jamie
