Creaking and squeaking!

Post by muddypaws » Mon Sep 29, 2008 9:18 am

 :?

Just started on Thursday, horrid creaky skeaky noise coming from front suspension. ANY ideas?

DH has looked quickly and can't see any obvious problems and isn't worried about it, said he will get some spray grease to see if that helps. But it all looks good down there. :?

Anti roll bar bushes or drop links I would guess arb bushes

I would test with a squirt of wd40 on each (not sure if thats a good idea) in turn but replacing then all is not expensive arb bushes with brackets are around £25 the set (front) at the most and drop links about £25 each from club shop

Cheaper ones are available and I bought them last year,,,,, and need replacing again

Well the bushes are fine, (guy that did drop links said so) I've been told to get some lube for them... Sorry but this post is sounding seriously dodgy!

Are the arb brackets ok? One of mine was snapped, the bushes were ok as it turned out,but one of the brackets had a hairline crack across it...many many moons ago...

Mine had a crack (that was almost impossible to see) spaning maybe 75% of the width of the bracket,it woulddn't have manifested itself unless one tried to bend the bracket when it was removed from the vehicle.

I stumbled across the crack only when i put my full body weight across the bracket with a pry bar.

If it IS the bracket, it's a cheap fix...£8 (ish) for a new un'.

This SEEMS to have been cured (at least for now and hopefully for quite some time...lol) by spraying the arb bushes with anti fling motorcycle chain lube! =D>
