getting to the speedo to fit a new chip

can anyone point me to any posts dealing with fitting a chip to the speedo please ?
the garage that did the mot etc reckon the chip is faulty or there is a bad earth,unfortunately i am in norfolk and they are in bristol.
i have the new chip but i ain't got a clue where to start.the last motor i worked on was a 1967 ford anglia lol.
i'll be most grateful for any help i can get thanks

easy
4 screws in surround and the dash comes out

here is a link to a 626 speedo change but the removal is the same

once unscrewed pull the plugs out the back the chip is screwed to the rear of the cluster and connected to a wire from the loom

i can see i'm gonna like it here thanks people.
Unfortunately I had a cataract removed on Monday so wont be able to attack the job for a couple of days.But when I do at least I'll be able to see what I'm doing. lol
