Running UK appliances from Japenese Electrical Sockets

I have just bought a Bongo which the electrical sockets and hook up are Japenese and run at a different voltage (100v I think). I know I can buy an adapter plug but am concerned about the voltage difference. Ultimately I have updating the conversion so will get it all permanently changed then but in the interim any advice would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the madhouse :D - don't forget to put your location in your profile, as it really helps us to help you.
You can get adaptors, but you'd also need a transformer to put the voltage up to 230v. Probably better to rewire the whole thing to UK specification.

Oops   Yes, I was thinking of using our appliances in Japan #-o . However, I don't know if the 100v wiring is adequate for this country's voltage - I would still recommend rewiring it.

Hi Geggsie,
Rewiring wont solve any thing, you will have to use a step down transformer from 240v ac to 110v,if the appliances are 110v.

Regards Mal..

I take your point, but he was referring to the sockets, wasn't he?

:D Geggsie, if you not going to the expense of having your kitchen cube converted all you need to do is get one of these http://www.jcelectrics.com/shopp/Extens ... d_spec.htm
to put in your awning and run what you like from it including a 110 transformer to run power into your van. I`ve done just that for nearly 4 years no problem
