Exhaust and Tyres

Well I am having a run of bad luck it seems!
First, water hose now fixed
second, DVD player died
Third, noisey aircon belt suspected broken bolt
Fourthly, rear tyres need replacing
and today the back box has fallen off!

So I thought I would get my last two requests for a while I hope.
Firstly I need a new back box asap. I have seen quite a few on ebay and spoken to one guy who seems ok. Is there something or someone I should watch out for?

These are 3 I have looked at, any recommendations?

Secondly I need to replace my rear tyres and Allan from Plymouth mentioned a harder profile but I cant remember hte make, I think he said KH55?? Allan, anyone any recommendations?

Thanks again, I feel I have been on here a lot though I have to say though I have spent a bit my bongo is still cool and this is little stuff really for a 12yr old car.

Allan suggested KUMO KHI5 as a decent mid price tyre.

Cheers Doone, wasnt sure what name you went under.
Exhaust coming tomorrow (backbox) £55 including postage, only two bolts so hopefully will be straight forward with some seal spray.

Thanks for the info Edward, Im up by Bude so would have been a tad dodgy driving that far with half an exhaust though I have to say worth while for the super service from Allans.

Fixed the DVD player today and moved on to the window switch, I have taken it to bits and the relay was clicking so I broke the case open and cleaned the contacts as they were really burnt but no joy. I think the problem is with the IC which Im going to try and find and solder on as they are normally only a quid or two. Failing that Im going to replicate the circuit on the passenger side as the complexity on the drivers side is the one touch and safety stuff.

cheers all

Well, fitted my new endbox which came next day. A local garage let me use their ramp. Funny as I thought they were going to fit it and me pay them but instead they showed me where the controls were and where the tool box was. I came back a tad dirty to say the least. Top blokes though, very friendly and brilliant mechanics at 73 each! To be fair your emmisions probably wouldnt be much different without a back box?

Belts are still squealing and the WD doesnt last long so theres my next job, aircon belt. Im slowly becoming a mechanic though its worth it with the lovely weekend I have spent with my family in this awesome motor. My little boy loves watching the surfers from the roof.

Cheers all.
