Bongo Fury

Put on the air con yesterday as the inside of the van was a llttle stuffy left it on for about 19 minutes then when turned off there was a ticking sound from, by the sound of it, the front of the engine compartment. It might have been a fan ticking any ideas and is this going to be a problem?? not used the air con. for a couple of months as it has not been too hot lately!!!

I have not experienced a ticking, but the air con will cause water to drip from just in front / centre of the engine - long shot but its all I can think of.

You'll have to get your stethoscope (or hosepipe and funnel) aitch and go Tick Hunting. Can't think what it might be unless something is very hot and cooling down (probs with aircon compressor?)

Sounds like the aircon compressor cutting in and out - quite normal - if it doesn't cut in and out then the pressure/volume is low and it's trying to work harder.

About 19 mins ???? why not 15 or 20 ???

Misread your post - ignore the nonsence I wrote about the a/c cutting in/out - I now realise its happening when you turn the a/c off

I still don't know what the ticking sound is ???

is it a fan?? and should it tick???

Hi Aitch,if the tick is that loud that you can hear it over the engine noise, I would have a look around the exhaust manifold.
Could be a blow at the gasket.
