Im a bit concerned about the temperature under the centre console. ive run the power cables, rca leads, speaker cable etc down inside the centre console and i was wondering if there is anything i can do to protect them from the heat or am i being paranoid?

Well it would have to be pretty damn hot to melt plastic sheathing on cables and as all Bongos are built the same way and none have reported problems like this I would have to say - yes you may be being a little paranoid :)

If you were to run them inside the thin corrugated tubing that you can get for automotive wiring, then at least you would not be putting the cable in direct contact with the hot metal. Having said that, I've run cables in the engine bay without problems. but heat does tend to cause the insulation to deteriate over time

I ran the cables from my head unit to the amp under the centre console too, i used convoluted tubing to protect the cables more from getting snagged or trapped by the engine bay cover clamps than anything else.

I guess it would protect the cables from the heat too a little.
