Bongo Fury

I know its not really techi stuff but I have no handbook to look up things. Please can you tell me what tyre pressures I should have in Freds tyres. In my last 4x4 it was 30 all the way round as it was 4 wheel drive. Fred is only 2 wheel drive. L dont want to sound silly and trivial.

Look inside the driver's door pillar, there should be a plate like this.....



It gives the tyre size and pressures for your vehicle. The conversions on the above plate are 29, 35, 26 and 35 psi respectively, or 30psi front, 35psi rear in real money. But it depends whether your vehicle still has the original tyre sizes fitted, it may have bigger rims and lower profile tyres, in which case the pressures will not be as above

Thank you I think i must have orginal wheels theres nothing fancy about Fred. Didnt know about plate with sizes on either.

Personally I've run mine (15" & 17" - not at the same time mind) at 36 - 38 depending on loading, no problems with uneven tyre wear or handling. I've found the pressures on the plate inside the door to be too low, apparantly the tyres originally fitted to the Bongo were made for the Bongo & were a softer compound than todays tyres in this country.

Personally I've used 36psi front and 40psi rear (especially when loaded)
I'm 2WD and run 195 x 15 on alloys all round.
I will step up the rear tyre size when they wear out but as they were brand spanking new on the van when I had it I will run them as they are for now.

36 front on the 195's and 40 on the rear 215's - this is a 2wd - no problems running like this for the last 6 months - i find you need the 40 in teh back when reasonably loaded otherwise they just look flat

Run mine at 40 front ..42 rear...no problems in 12 months and I get 2 to 3 MPG better fuel consumption than when using the recommended pressures. Keep the same all the time even when towing the c'van.
