Simon is spot on - I received my V5c today for my 1st personal import of a 2001 2.0l AFT. The V5C clearly states Body type as Motor Caravan (because that is what I stated on the V55 application form), Number of seats including driver as 8, no entry against CO2, Type Approval Number = Exempt & £230 PA (currently) RFL.
Once I've completed the conversion, I'll update the seating number.

Me too. Registered as MPV / PLG. Nothing listed for emissions but I did notify of lpg conversion so it's now registered as duel fuel. Not that makes any difference. I pay £225??

The very low rates for low CO2 cars is being abolished (2017 I think) and a flat rate of £140 is being introduced as too many cars are paying SFA now.
The only exempt cars will be electric ones then.
Yep 2017......
From 2017, all new cars will be taxed against three new VED bands - zero, standard, premium - with taxation calculated on a combination of emissions and the list price of the vehicle. The changes will not impact existing cars on the road.
There will be a flat standard rate of £140 for all new cars except those emitting zero CO2. Cars with a list price above £40,000 will pay an additional £310 per year - £450 in total - for the first five years in which the standard rate is paid.
The move comes as the Chancellor confirmed that the current VED system is unworkable, with three quarters of all new cars set to qualify for zero VED from 2016.
From 2020-21 the government will spend all of the revenue raised from VED on the road network only.
No change for existing cars and rates.

So will the changes affect Bongos that are registered from 2017?

ONLY the VED
NOT what they collect in fuel duty and VAT.
I bet they already spend more than £140 x the number of cars registered, so won't spend any more than they do now.

prices are dropping like a stone!
Here (Aberdeen) Asda have petrol and diesel @ same price 1.14. a ltr

Humans are the pariahs of the planet would be more accurate I reckon! Good time to be enjoying a diesel meanwhile, just not in congested urban areas where the particulates are an issue. Thanks for the heads up on prices.

You can get Diesel in Whitley Bay area for 114.7 PPL, no need to go to Aberdeen for a bargain.
There is a Worldwide glut of oil at the moment and the price of a barrel of oil is very low. If the Government did not have as much tax on it you it might be as cheap as chips.
