Ok, so we are going to be attempting to remove both sets of back seats this morning and was just wondering if anyone can offer any hints or tips to make removing them easier (ie so that we dont end up having an argument whilst in situ of removing bolts etc)

Do you have long or short rails ? or put another way do you have 2 x Bench seats that slide or 1 bench seat plus the rears that lift ?

If you have 2 x Bench seats there are 2 choices. If you are happy to leave the runners in the rails then just unbolt the 4 big bolts on each seat that hold them to the rails. If you want to completely remove the runners then from the rear of the Bongo , undo the screws and remove the decorative end plate - you will see a pin that stops the seat from sliding right out, remove that (probably with a big hammer). Repeat for both sides then simply slide seats out.

You may have to cut out some of the foam from around the rails to remove the pin but in my Bongo that had already been done.

Good luck :-)

If you've got the rear flip ups, flip them up once youve unclipped the plastic hinge/mount covers, undo the 4 bolts on each & make sure you don't drop the bolts or washers inside the panel  , then just lift off. Use the same method for refitting if you're going to, clip the hangy hook on the handgrab to help take the weight, position the mounts & bolt back on :D

ok, so we have removed the bolts on the runners but cant pull it back far enough as it gets stuck. we are trying to remove the seat via the back door. The 'cover' were the back seat hing is is getting in the way, is it safe enough to remove these.

the back seat seems a few ml wider than the back door

If you've got the flip ups, the middle seats won't slide back - even if you take the side panels off the inside of the van. You'll have to unclip the covers on the front & back of the "feet" of the middle seats & undo the 4 bolts holding the seats on the runners, take the seat out of the side door, then if you want the runners out you can slide those out seperately.

Often the simple solutions are best. The Americans spent millions developing a ball point pen which would write in space (you can buy these for a few pounds). Russian Cosmonouts took pencils.

Glad it's sorted. :D
