Hi , I to had this problem and in the end opted for a replacement engine, but others have had success by giving the block a good clean and rub down checking for any unevenness before putting the gaskets back, don't give up you'll get there in the end....make sure the garage you use is fully aware of the bleed procedure for the Bongo .

Did you check the top of the engine block was flat before rebuilding and have the head pressure tested??

You can flatten the block if need be.
It all needs to be done by a GOOD mechnic who knows Bongos.

There have also been problems with some non-genuine head gaskets.
