Stalling when warmed up

Hello all,
We are Bongo virgins, having bought our bongo about a month go. We have had a problem with a stall when the engine has been warmed up; this can be after fifty miles or two hundred. It has not happened when cold or just started. We do not use veg oil (yet).
I have looked for leaks or signs of wear in fuel lines and cannot see anything. My biggest impediement is not kn owing what I am looking at, as we cannot afford to buy the manual yet.
Can anyone give me advice on what to tighten or loosen before I try to secure a second mortgage and have a fuel pump changed?
We have a burgundy, 1995 N reg 2.5 diesel. We are around Dartmoor next month if you want to say hello.

Have you searched for similar problems reported on this site for ideas? Have you changed the fuel filter and cleaned the banjo filter yet? These are the first things you should try.

The banjo filter is to the front of the fuel pump, driver's side of the engine. I was sure there was a picture of its location on here somewhere but I can't seem to find it. Unless someone else comes up with a pic in the interim, I'll try and take one tonight and post it.

If you put your location on your profile there may be an experienced local member who can help you out whith 'hands on'.
Certainly that's how it works in the North West.
good luck

I did a search and found a picture of the banjo filter. Have taken this out and cleaned it with cotton bud as advised. Now sitting here oiled up and scratched but happy. engine started etc so will have to wait and see if stalls again. I plan to check oil filter next.
I live in Berkshire, near to Thatcham. 10 miles from Reading, 6ish from Newbury.

Hello helpers.
Bongo going well except for still stalling. I think it is linked to gears. when I slow down from a speed of 50 or 60 mph the gears don 't seem to change down quick enough and the engine goes into a stall. I have stopped it a couple of time by slipping into neutral and gunning the engine, but it is a skill thing so I do miss it.
How do I fix this?
--increase my idle speed? (seems to sit at 750 or so when engine first starts)
-- tinker (?) with the gear box somehow?

Could it be to do with the throttle position sensor (TPS)? rings a vague bell.

Ok, I have used my psychic ability to contact your Bongo and it tells me it is short of breath.

Short of breath sounds right but bit difficult for me to fix.
Anyway, Throttle position sensor sounds like something I could maybe have a 'play' with.
