We have had our Bongo Friendee for just 2 days and we've noticed the rear tailgate reflector is over halfway full of water (although it hasn't rained). My husband has removed the inner tailgate board and unscrewed the screws under the plastic cover as well as the two extenal nuts that appear to hold on the rear reflector assembly but he can't see how to get the assembly off. Can you please help?

I would consider adding antifreeze...you don't want it to freeze up in winter if you can't drain it.....
* Joke *
I hope someone with knowledge of the removal gets here soon for you?

Don't have the solution to the problem but have the same issue on my '99. Haven't had a go at getting it off yet but will be interested in any answers given here.

I've seen this before on new shaped bongo's... Not having examined the exact mechanism for releasing the light lenses on the newer type, i'd be merely speculating with a remedy for this. If the light lens is integral to the housing,and can't be seperated (without breaking the seal) I'd be tempted to drill a 2mm hole in the bottom, so the water could drain away at least? That woud be a last resort if i couldn't trace the leak of course,is there any clue where the water may be getting in? Slap some silicone sealant around the bead at the back?

Thank you for all the responses. The general consensus seems to be to drill and drain, so that's what we're going to do. We thought the water might be condensation but as there's so much of it, perhaps not. Anyway it's now pouring down so we'll see if the level goes up any higher! Thanks again,
Barbara

hello,
we have a 2000 new shape and had the same problem, the theory was that it got in when it was jet washed. bigdaddycain is right, the company i purchased from drilled 2 holes in the lens last year and it hasn't filled up again and you have to really look hard to spot them.

I too have the same problem with my new 96 old shape! it was half full when i bought it, cheek of it, i though they would have filled it up. seriously speaking i would drill a small hole or silicon it as above.Bear in mind it could come in very hand as a reserve for that well earned cuppa when you realise the water supply is empty!!

As usual I'm glad to see that it isn't just us. I've shied away from Drilling and draining, and gave up taking the rear panel off halfway through. I will now get the drill out and drain the stuff.
I agree with previous posting regarding pressure washers. We think it got filled up whilst we had some body work done (they use a lot of water!)

I just got round to sortying this out and opted for one small hole at each lower corner. Water drained a treat.

Funny, I have the same issue, passenger side white reflector full of water.
Have thought about tryint odrain it but it still works so just leaving it.
Could drill very small hole in it (2 actually) to allow it to drain
