bought a 6626 rear demister switch hoping it would be the same.
the front is identical but the connector block is different so do i
a) buy a proper bongo one second hand or
b) cut the wires off my existing loom and wire it to the new switch? how hard would it be considering im more than a bit clueless?

Hi meek,

Am i right in thinking that the connection on the switch is smaller than the block on the loom?

I had a similar problem with a couple of switches, i remedied by soldering some colour coded wires to the lugs at the back of the switch, sheathed with shrink wrap to insulate each join from shorting, then used insulated connectors to patch into the loom..

There are four wires to the demister block, (as with them all) two are for the dash lighting the other two are for the demist.
The rear fog & the one with the scroll wheel i fitted, the other one that isolates the spots came with a connector block!

Oh yeah, there should be an orange light on the right side of the speedo to tell when the demisters on.
I dare say if you have no switch factory fitted, you have no bulb in the pod..
(Mines a tintop, so no roof bulb).

Good luck, i can pull the dash & check the wire colours if you get any problems! :P
