Bongo Fury

I hope you can help..... I'm having problems when driving, my Bongo changes up from first to second with no problem, but only briefly goes into third before the revs shoot up and it changes back to second. I have read a few forum articles on here and have checked the TPS and my speedo isn;t chipped......please help as i'm not sure who to take it too in Bristol or what to try next???

Have you enough ATF in the box,to little can cause weird things to happen to the gear changes

Am in Bristol, not Bath, force of habbit, work in Bath!

Ah i now see,never mind we all have a cross to bear now and then !!!

I would still try Bell Hill.They have a loan car arrangement.Take an extended lunch break

Do you have a flashing hold light on the dash? If so, you can use the transmission code fact sheet on this site to figure what the problem is.

They do say that a fluid change can help

I did have the flashing hold light and it came up with the TPS fault so i've changed the TPS and that fault has gone, but still no third gear or above.

The fluid levles are good and fluid is clean.

I'll give Bell Hill Garage a call in the morning and see what they say

Have Spoken to Bell Hill Garage and they have told me to speak to Dennings Garage on the coast as they are not sure if it's solinoids or clutch!

tk does your atf smell burnt ? dip it as per advice in fact sheet,if so sorry to say yer clutches have burnt out,just been down this road myself and i spent loads changing atf and cleaning filter in the bottom of the auto box sump only to have it dumped out again a week later and a second hand box fitted (£560 bell hill ) i think either jal parts or jap tech have second hand ones,but after having it done i realized it had never been right since i bought it and best money i ever spent,but dont think its the end of the world and please contact me if i can help,just done 400 miles down to and around dorset and she was tickerdy boo.... good luck...neil....

Bell Hill fitted a second hand 4wd box, new filter and oil for autobox and transfer box for £640 last friday. Dropped the bongo off at 8 in the morning and had it back at 3 in the afternoon. Great service and the bongo seems to be running better than it has for a long time.
