A question for all Tin toppers?

My sun roof works fine, i keep the runners lubed & the guttering clear..
I don't really use it that often, but i have noticed it doesnt have an auto stop function like the windows/mirrors/blinds.
It does however on closing stop exactly half way, then when the rocker switch is let go & pressed again the sunroof caries on till closed.

It's just at the end of travel, either opening or closing there don't appear to be the motor saving function as mentioned referring to the other motorised utilities...?

Is this normal design or something i need to investigate?

Cheers!

Mine does the same, it appears to be something to do with the blind/shutter thing underneath and how that closes, but I could be wrong.

Not sure exactly what you mean here

Mine opens as long as a keep switch pressed.,nd stops when i release the button. It will stop in
any position.
Works the same when closing. stops and restarts as and when i push the button.

What happens with Jaylee's and mine is this.

If it is open and you press the button to close it and hold it there it stops halfway, whether or not you release the button.

To complete the closure you have to release the button and press it again.

Obviously if you release the button at any other point when opening or closing it it stops at that point.

It doesn't automatically stop halfway when being opened, only when being closed.

Yep, Scanner just summed it up Brian.
my question is, when the sun roof is fully open or closed even with the switch pressed does the winder motor still keep going or does it auto stop like the windows/blinds?
Now the sun roof is out of the line of sight, i tend to know when its fully open/closed because i can hear a change in the motor tone & i let go of the switch!

With the blinds for instance, if you hold the down button the appropriate blind will stop when fully traveled you will not hear the motor the unit that has traveled as far as it will go...
That don't seem the case with my sun roof though it works fine in every other respect.

...I'm just after a comparison with other tintop sun roofs, if it ain't broke i'm not gonna try to fix it! :D

When mine fully closes or opens the note of the motor changes as the clutch starts to slip.
You can hear the motor running and the clutch slipping.

It's a sort of "be-dump" "be-dump" "be-dump" noise.

Not necessarily as I've got both.

As I understand it the reason the sunroof only closes halfway at the first press of the switch is a safety issue so that people (kids) don't get decapitated accidentally if they have their heads up through the sunroof.

When it's fully open there's a click as it latches the under panel shutter thing, ready to drag it closed when shutting..

Its great for star gazing at night! :D
