I was just wondering how many "hp" does a Ford Freda 2.5TD 4WD has?

And how many revolutions should it be expected to do before changing gear and when driving at typical road speeds (30, 50, 60, 70 mph)?

The official figures vary from 127 BHP to 132 BHP. The only revs/speed figure i can recall is that mine does 2400RPM at an accurate 65MPH (satnav).

I believe torchwood's bongo wouldn't be revving quite so high at 65...

Should be 125 ps (horsepower ) at 4000rpm, torque 30kgm at 2000rpm

Speed it changes up depends greatly on the position of your right foot, on mine it probably changes up at about 3000rpm, anything above that is criminal!

What were those figures muz? I'm not french mate!

Is 30 KGM about 225 lb/ft of torque?

We have these figures (don't ask me to explain them, I'd have to ask my hubby!)
Max power (Net) kw(PS)/rpm: 125ps (91.94kw) / 4000 rpm.
Max torque (Net), N*m (kg*m)/rpm:
30.0 kg*m (294.20 N*m) / 2000 rpm.
Power density: 14.16.

Your driving style (whether a manual or autobox) should be that whatever gear you're in you should aim to have 2,000 rpm or so showing in the next gear - that way you'll be at max. torque for performance and economy.

Just to clear up any query on power values, PS is german for pferdestarke, which is the same as DIN, which is the same as the metric horsepower. The British (or SAE) horsepower is slightly lower, as French and german engineers like to exaggerate a little over the power of their cars , also, in terms of real horses, England always bred bigger Draft Horses for working, and those darned Furriners had to make up for it somehow by "cooking the books" on power figures...everyone knows British is best....as the sausage munchers found out in two World Wars
