Nasty rip in the roof tent

So my kids went on the rampage in the roof last night and managed to tear the tent roof by swinging of the front zip
There's a tear about 35cm long down the front of the tent, that I need to fix before next weekend.
Has anybody got any ideas on the best way of sorting this out?

Hi
Without seeing the damage, I would say a dinghy repair kit until you can fix it properly...lf you can post a piccie, I can ,perhaps, suggest a better repair for later....I have managed to repair the odd ripped tent in the past. Are the kids still alive with all their skin?
Best of luck
Cheers
Helen

The skin of a child makes an excellent waterproof repair material for a roof tent.
Remind them of this next time they go playing up there.

Hi,
I have done many tent repairs in the past when my children were small and I would suggest stitching in a patch from the inside, or you may get away with straight small stitches, then waterfroof the lot with a tent waterproofer . some come in spray form.
I hope you get it sorted Ok
Regards Anna

Spinnaker tape is pretty good, stuck on with waterproof glue. You can get spinnaker tape from any sailing/boating shop or on-line, it's used for repairing sails and is available in different colours. Or you can buy tent patching fabric from a camping shop. They also sell waterproof glue. Or as suggested above, sew it and glue over after - you could use fairly invisible nylon thread, sold just like cotton thread, in sewing shops.

I think this is the best suggestion so far!
