Engine oil - where to buy & can it be mixed?

Hi

Where is the cheapest place to buy engine oil for the Bongo (10w/30 I am led to believe).

Also can you mix different grades of engine oil - i.e. if you have 1/2 can of 10w/40 left and you use this with 10w/30 in an oil change? I guess the answer is that it doesn't matter too much, but would like to know from someone more knowledgeable.

Thanks

Darryl

Please use the correct grade of oil suitable for a turbo diesel engine,
there is far more engine oil in the Bongo than an ordinary car and an engine oil and filter change is always cheaper than a new engine when you've got it wrong.

The cheapest is not always the best!

and the most expensive may not be much better be either!

Halfords ( for dummies) will prob look at you for knowledge of what you want as the average 16yr old saleman hasn't a clue about life let alone oil

your local car spares shop is prob the best place to go

The question rates along with one of my wifes
Wife;"Is it alright to put antifreeze mixture water in the wash bottle in winter to stop it freezing!"

She asked this after she had done it! [-X

I was not amused

Please use the correct oil for top ups as diesel oil  as making it 'thinner' to save money is not a good idea

Good Bongoing :D

Which is why I was asking this question as I am about to do an oil change and yes, I was aware that using diesel oil for a diesel engine was a good idea!

So the best would be....?
Please use the correct oil for top ups as diesel oil
Do you mean the same grade - if so how do you know what grade was used in the last change?

I could say the same about this helpful(!) reply.

Well I could have just said the cheapest oil is somewhere in Iran but that is not really helpful
is it.
Likewise TESCO's in Shirley has some on offer at £6.99 per 5 litres but is tens of miles from you and I wouldn't use it in my lawnmower even though its 10/30 suitable for turbo diesel engines.......
I do all my own servicing and have done for 30yrs plus so I know whats in the car/ van/ bike cos I put it there

As the man above says
Click on the help guide within the forum............ #-o

I'll stop trying to be helpful then as its a waste of my time

I've always put in 10w30 but this time put in 10w 40 - I think lots of people do...in fact might be better for older engines???
