Hi all our bongo has been in lakeside garage since last tue, because we thought there was something wrong with gearbox and to have the air con pump replaced . I was happy when they rang and said it was not the gearbox . Now they are saying its the fuel pump they are canging the sensor today if that does not work they are replacing the fuel pump(£515) tomorrow. Fed up as booked into our first bongo bash on thursday. Fingers crossed now its the sensor.

What are the symptoms of the gearbox problem? If it is not changing at correct speeds, then it could be the throttle position sensor is duff or needs adjustment. Try a search for "TPS"

Ok - it does sound quite serious. I hope they get it fixed soon. If it were me, I would ask for the old parts back at the end. Not that I would doubt for one minute that they has not replaced the faulty parts, but you could sell it for spares on ebay. There is one on there or the Forum For Sale section now.

Good luck

Is this garage experienced / familiar with Bongos?

Hope you manage to get it sorted OK. Cars (all cars) are a potential nightmare when this kind of thing happens (my £8k Spacewagon cost me £600 for a new ECU after 10 months of ownership)

Keep us posted (if you can bear it!)

Manda,
I remember your previous post about this problem and the gearbox being reluctant to change up. Changing the fuel pump seems extreemly drastic to me. Are the garage aware of the gauze filter which is inside the fuel pump underneath the fuel inlet. Its a simple job to do. Mine had the self same symptoms. Cleaned this, job sorted. Get in touch with the garage and ask them if they have actually cleaned this filter or just changed the fuel filter.

If you mean pump as in diesel injector pump, I think I saw at least one injector/pump on ebay a day or two back. May be worth checking out?

Good tip about the banjo filter steve...Is the bongo starting now manie? Does the garage now about the primer on the fuel filter on some bongo's? I assume they filled the fuel filter with diesel before attempting to start? They may need to bleed the air out at the injectors...
