Speaks for itself, really. If yours is on a half point, please round up for consistency.
Thanks all

I'm not going to bother responding to this because as Dandywarhol has said in the other post, every vehicle is different. Also, you set the alarm to go off at a point on the scale that suits you which will also effect the setting. So whatever anyone posts on here it's not going to help you.
For a bit of help in how to set your own when you get it, on a long run, up steep hills on a hot day you can expect the needle to creep up towards the red on the gauge. Somewhere before this point, say about 2 o' clock set your alarm to go off. Just keep nudging the adjuster up as it goes off.
I had one of these alarms on my Townace which suffer from overheating far worse than the Bongo. I had mine set to go off early which unfortunately means the beeper goes off a lot but having had the head go previously it gave me piece of mind but annoys your passengers no end
It's a trial and error exercise and a balance between peace of mind and 'comfort'.

The mason alarm is brill , i have mine set a tad under the number 5 setting, this seems OK for my bongo, went to Scotland and the Outer Hebrides a couple of weeks ago and it beeped a couple of times going up a very long hill .i expected that, so i know if it goes off at any other time when normal driving i know to stop and check or let it cool down.
It does give the temp gauge a greater reading ,so the norm is about 1 o'clock, which drops or even goes into the red if driving hard.

i have mine set to 4.5, this suited my old bongo and my new one, it all depends where you are and the type of driving the bongo gets, i live in a valley so loads of up and down hills all the time and i am situated inbetween a few of the main motoways so traffic can get a bit bad.
i did have it set at 4 to start but when we got a bit of sun last year (you remember dont you the 2 weeks of sun yorkshire got?

), anyway it started to beep on and off in stop start traffic when the sun was blazing so i upt it an extra .5, which did the trick

I disagree with it being dependant on where you are and the type of driving you do - it's dependant on the condition of YOUR van cooling system whether you're driving in the UK or soth France. It should be set just higher than the maximum your engine runs at (assuming you haven't got an overheating problem of course

)
I don't know of any manufacture who has different gauges for different parts of the world
Veg Ian's advice is correct.

Mason alarm fitted & set to 5 (which now has 70% of the votes & is therefore a good starting point)
Very easy to fit, with temp gauge now running at about 12 o'clock rising to 1 o'clock in traffic.
Thanks to all for the info.

I have no fear in fitting the alarm myself, and will do so in the near future. My next job though, is to replace my old hoses, with Flippa's silicon ones.

Mine set at about 4.5. As for consistency, I prefere my gravy reasonably thick as opposed to runny.
