Bongo Fury

Hi, can anyone help us out with our central locking?
It works fine on the drivers door, but when we lock the passenger door or the sliding door - the other doors don't lock centrally. They all lock with the same key. Maybe the others were never meant to lock centrally- but it would be really useful if we could get them too.

Our Bongo only centrally locks via the drivers side

that sound's about right for a lot of bongo's the driver door has the central locking but not the others. you will have to fit new actuators to get them to all lock at the same time, or get an alarm with an actuator for the drivers door to do the lot for you.

mine came with a mazda remote centarl locking system....

on a 96 P plate

Yes that's right. The drivers door has a switch to activate the locks on the other doors. I had an alarm fitted but also needed a central locking motor for the drivers door. Now everything locks at the press of a button. (Shame it doesn't lock the missus's mouth in the closed position as well. One can only dream!!

I had a Vauxhall Combo van for 13 years the same too, drivers door actuated but with deadlocks.
The Bongo don't have deadlocks.. something to do with low car crime in Japan??

I fitted an actuator in the Bongo drivers door with the alarm, still easy to get the door open if the window was smashed...

... But thass a different ball game!

Weird city... an echo!!!!

Drivers door has no actuator, fit a remote central locking kit, best mod I've done on the bongo .
You'll need a 2 door kit, but you'll only need to fit one of the actuators in the drivers door, I think Maplins do them for about £20. There's a fact sheet in the members section with piccies & everything on how to fit it, it's a bit of a contortion act getting the actuator rods in place, but shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.

I used a good quality wire coat hanger fer my activator rod.. less hassle to fit!

you'll need to stock up on skin for your knuckles too!!

or you will, if you've got sausage fingers like me!!!

definitely worth a bit of bleeding though, and all the tar from the plastic sheet that sticks to your arm and.....etc

Back to the original question, it is correct that as standard the central locking is only actuated by the driver's door. Virtually all the Japanese manufacturers do it this way presumably to reduce production costs. There is just a switch in the drivers door which "tells" the other doors when to lock.

On the whole from what i have read & seen, yes..
Though i did read a thread from someone who thought they had found what looked like a factory remote central locking controller a couple of months back & queried it!

Some one else might know better...
