Hold Light Code 62 Fixed

Re: Previous posts on Hold Light Code 62 problems - now fixed by replacement of the solenoid set at a cost of around £500 - half for parts (solenoid set, filter and ATF fluid) and half for labour.

Aberdeen Automatic Transmission Specialists checked around all his contacts in the trade and the general concensus was to change the solenoid pack first rather than try a lengthy and complicated process of elimination of other components involved.

Thanks for the info Doug. For future reference, does anyone know if this is a DIY job or does it require any specialist equipment?

Good one Doug :D

V Ian........it's 21-1D1 or 21-1D2 in the pic - either way it'll involve dropping the sump, removing the valve block and changing the solenoid. It can be done with the box still in the vehicle. :D

Well I've dropped the sump before and the rest seems straightforward if it's just a case of swapping the components, so if the time comes I think I would have a go myself...... [-o<

I can confirm that the job was done in situ. Aberdeen Automatic's hydraulic ramp couldn't handle the Bongo because of height restrictions so he did it by just jacking it up to a safe working level and changed the solenoid set after the fluid was drained. Can't put my hands on the invoice at the moment but it was about £80, £40+, and £75 for solenoids, filter and fluid (+VAT) for the bits.

Depending on which solenoid pack is fitted
to your box you may be able to change just
one solenoid on others you have to change
the full pack, they wont know till they open
up the box.
