Bongo Fury

Hi Everyone
What I'm trying to achieve is to have power to my 12v without my sidelights being on.When I turn the ignition key to the first position I have power to my 12v but I also have day running lights on.I've tried taking power from the permanent live supplying fuze 1-5 and also running afeed from the battery direct to the cigarette lighter but each time the day running lights are permanently on. Can anyone suggest a remedy to this situation.

Hi laurie, it's quite rare for a bongo to have the daytime running lights,though i have heard of it before, do you have a leisure battery fitted?

The ciggy lighter,interior lights, blinds,mirrors, radio can all easily be re-routed to run from the leisure battery,which then means you don't need to touch the ignition to make the cig sockets permanently live.

Unfortunately I dont have a leisure battery but I do have a winter starting pack which gives me two batteries, would that be of any use.

Hmm, that complicates matters somewhat... I'm sure there will be a dedicated fuse that could be removed somewhere that will allow the sidelights to still be operative,(via your usual stalk switch) yet disable the daytime running option... I bet it's dead simple to do ya know,just tricky without having a good rummage around your circuits (so to speak)

I have the winter pack and I also have daytime running/sidelights on all the time. I don't see any reason to change this. If it's good enough for "wait for it" (Volvo) it's surley good enough for me.

I want to use my 12v etc on a campsite at night and don't fancy having everyone knock on my bongo to tell me my sidelights are still on

Ah ! in that case why not "direct wire" your ciggy socket and radio (with a fuse in the wire). There is a fact sheet and photos on here somewhere. Simple job. I also put a isolater terminal (£5 on e bay) on one terminal of each battery so I could easily disconnect one on site and know I had power to start in the morning. Also when in a dodgy area I could take the terminal bolts away and make Bongo difficult to nick.

I can see your point laurie, it won't do your battery any favours either....

I don't suppose you know if theyr'e is a relay/fuse that laurie can disconnect Haydn?

I have the regular set-up on my bongo you see, so can't nip out and check on mine....

Can anyone find the photo's of the rewiring of the top row of fuses in the box ??
To just make the radio/ciggy socket live. Run a decent sized wire from the pos+ terminal of the battery to the back of the ciggy socket (disconnect the one already there and insulate) same with the radio,
Oh ! and put a inline fuse in the Pos wire. (very important)
