Hi,conflicting info: as regards servicing intervals,eg: 6 months,5000 miles or is the interval greater than the diesel.Information appreciated.

Hi, Mine had full service last November was told to change oil and filter at 6,000 miles and have next full service at 12-14000 miles or 12 months. This was from a well known Bongo man and moderator in Plymouth.

Service interval for V6 is 15000km or 12 months which ever is sooner for engine oil, 100,000km for diff (only with LSD), 100k for fuel filter & timing belt, brake fluid and coolant every 2 years and air filter every 5000 klm.

Hi, the official service schedule for the oil is 15k km as stated above. However I just changed mine after 10k and the oil looked very dirty so I'm sticking to earlier changes. I've never stuck to the official guidelines for peace of mind in any of my cars. Also keep an eye on the lambda sensor as this fails gradually and causes the car to run rich and waste fuel. Similarly change the air filter regularly as this can get dirty and increase fuel consumption.

Finally make sure you have a good set of spark plugs, I changed to Denso Iridium IK16's, it runs much better on these, and I'm trying a 5w 30 oil too. So far the car runs much better and uses less fuel which is good.

Whare did you get your new lambda Apole

The air filters do clog quick, and i find it gets noisy as the oil gets older, so i change about every 8000 ks when it begins to run noisy WELL what i think is noisier

I got it fitted by the dealer, I'm there next week so I'll ask and let you know. It's a standard 2 wire one, from memory there is only one common thread size. You have to be very careful not to strip the threads when removing/fitting and you mustn't put grease on the threads as this can spread to and contaminate the sensor, or so I'm told.

You can easily test your current one to see if it works by putting a multimeter across the 2 wires, it will read anything from up to 1 volt, I think below 0.4v is lean, and above 0.6 is rich but remember it changes all the time so it won't (or shouldn't) stay at a constant figure.
