header tank cap.

does anyone know of a compatable part,topped up today and didnt replace ,checked rad still full long journey home!! all help appreciated,n

Jap caps are a standard size on most cars - so go to a motor factors and they'll sell you one

I got a couple from a scrap yard (for experimentation) & I think they were from a Honda Accord. However, they're only about £12 or so from BongoBits, so not really worth the risk of getting one which may be faulty

yellow top on the header tank ,red top on the radiator, not sure why ,but maybe different pressure ratings.

You need one that has a secondary valve. On the bottom of the cap there is a button that you can pull down against a soft spring to allow pressure compensation, if it was on an expansion tank it would be to draw back the coolant expelled into the overflow tank. The cap on the rad should not have one. :wink:
