Thanks for all your help re my last query. Still have a problem though and looking to escape in Bongo Can you give further suggestion??

I have change my glow plugs and had the relay checked and changed the fuse, its ok.
When turning the ignition on the glow plug light lights up and goes out as normal. However when starting the engine it just turns over as if the glow plugs have not worked.

Can you help advise? Thinking logically could it be temperature switch controller or someting else?

Could you also advise where any suggestions are on the engine as its a bit of a maze.

Have you checked whether you are getting voltage at the glowplugs? Could it be a fuel issue? maybe the banjo filter blocked?

Can I chip in here. Just started to look at cleaning the banjo filter and find the first step - removing the 'clamp' on the pfuel pipe which is fixed with a bolt to be removed with an allen key - is difficult to get at. I thought I would remove the cooling hose next to it but I am concerned that if it is brittle I could end up with a broken coolant hose. Any suggestions re getting at the allen bolt without removing the hose?

On mine I managed to get to it by using the short end of the allen key. On my brother-in-laws, It would not work the same way, so I had to use the long end, and it reached nicely from under the hose. lucky his screw was'nt as tight as mine was.

I didn't undo mine ( couldn't ), managed to get the filter out with a magnetic pick up thingy & a lot of firkling

I have tried the fuel and the problem is definitly related to the glow plugs. There is power coming onto the bars and the light is coming on and off but its like the plugs are not being warmed?? Any suggestions greatfully received?

maybe you burnt out the glow plugs, when you touched the rail to the engine?

do you still have some of the old ones still?, did they work or was they all knackered too?

I have replaced all the glow plugs, your right i reckon i burnt them all out, now stumped with what else could be? Ive changed plugs, checked relay, change fuse. arghhhh

so are the new ones in now and dont work after you touched the bar to the engine, or have you replaced the glow plugs again after you touched the bar to the engine?

I have replaced and checked all after fitting new glow plugs with the longer version, ive now learnt there are two types. Basically the old ones weere the shorter version and touched the bar.... The glow plug light now is coming on and off as normal but the engine just turns over.

Also tried turning ignition on and off a few time with the glow plug light going on/off to see if this would help...... NO!! Nightmare

I sent a reply 10 mins ago but ithasnt appeared!
I had the same prob - solution was blown fuse in the dashboard fusebox - no 9 extreme left middle row. Its marked Engine on the fuse crib sheet. Altho the glow plug bar was live the blown fuse was cutting off the fuel pump.

Thanks Ron, just tried and changed that fuse, still no go....arghhhh, where to go next:) ?

Definitely worth looking at the filter in the pump, don't have to remove the bracket, use a magnetic thingy, get the spring out, the filter comes out using a screw driver pushed into it. My problems were nearly all down to the filter being blocked, blow it out and clean it with a cotton bud.
