A thought on refilling the coolant.

Had one of those thoughts as you do on refilling the coolant.
As there seems to be a problem for some / all Bongo owners when they refill the coolant. Why not remove the temperature sender unit on the head when refilling. This seems to be one of the highest points and could help remove air locks.
What does anyone else think, be gentle with me, especially if this has been mentioned before

Makes good sense to me......However, I think the single most important thing is to ensure the Thermostat opens. I belive that in many cases this is not being checked and leads to all sorts of problems. If you ever do bleed the coolant, the job is done within a couple of mins of the stat opening. It can take 20/30 mins to make this happen.

Ever owned a BX Diesel?

The reason I ask is that in effect that is what you do to bleed the cooling system on one of those.

It isn't actually the temp sender, but a bleed screw in the thermostat housing right next to it.

I agree with Haydn, once the stat opens bleeding the system is easier, as long as all the system is well and truely flushed, rad and header tank caps are o.k., all hoses sound, rad in good order, water pump working fine, etc

Yes, I would like to have mine flushed out again, local garage did this a few weeks ago, not to sure of the condition of the rad and not sure if it is a bit bunged up or not. Bit worried about having a go at this at the moment. 8-[
