Seat Belts too long.

I notice that the seat belts latch is fixed to quite a long length of belt between the latch and the fixing bolt.
Does any one know if there is a replacement available that with a shorter length of material and maintain the integrity of the seat belt?

Why are they too long? Are they fouling a child seat?
I think the split seat belt tags are longer than the bench seat tags, but they may not be compatible - there is a slight difference on the male ends of some bongo belts, but I am not sure if it age related or seat related.

Yes... have noticed that the actual latches seem to go all the way up the side of my stomach. An odd feeling, yes, but I bet I'll get used to it.

Here was my solution - worked for me and my wife was happy with it.... Kids still ok.
take seatbelt catch, push through seat - wrap once around under seat bar and push back through - hey presto - shorter seatbelts that work on car seats.

I had my seat belt stalks swapped with ones from the front seats of another vehicle (another bongo I think). Its the easiest solution and very easily done. Mike at Wheelquick did it for me. Needed it done for child seats.

Hi Oggy
If you get down and look under the bench seats in the back, you'll see the webbing for the seat belt buckle is attached to a kida clamp with a point facing the front of the van. If you loosen the bolt and turn it round so the point is facing the back, it naturally moves more of the webbing under the seat and therefore leaves less above !
We did this on one of ours so that the buckle didn't 'crunch' on our childseat.
hope this helps
Cheers

I employed the 'wrap around the bar' method too ! Had my fears about safety, but eventually convinced myself that in a high speed crash, if the bar let go it would act as two lesser jolts on the kiddy seat (rather than one large jolt). That seems like a better option that the buckle getting squished and letting go !!

Thanks for this everyone.
It is buckle crunch and there are a couple of options that sound like they will do just fine.
Nice one and thank you

Swapping the base part of the seatbelt is really the easiest way -as the top part is standard and loads ofplaces have seat belt bits going free. Mine were wwapped in minutes and it didnt even cost me anything.
