I will jump on this thread too because mine wasn
t making the noise today.It looked like twoof the connector thingies on the static side were pressed in but I didn't have time to investigate.

two of the connector thingies on the static side r pressed in on mine but it works ok

It could defintely be coincidence - I have never noticed them in before but they may have been. It usually is fine but today didnt wurr. Still closed and locked fine though.

right first things first the thingies on the static side (cant believe ive said that) some of them are fixed and do not move, the others push in and out, try cleaning the contact ends of them with a bit of emery cloth. that might be all thats needed.
