drop the tank?

We now have our new bongo, seems spot on and the only problem is the non-working fuel guage. From study of the forum the most likely culprit will be the sender. So up with the carperts and remove the inspection cover. Only problem is this Bongo has a side conversion installed which covers the access to the inspection plate.
So here is my dilema, do I drop the tank, or hack into the side conversion unit to get access to the sender?
Any suggestions would be gratefully recieved!

I would work out EXACTLY (take measurments) from another Bongo and Neatly "hack" in. then make a access cover in the bottom of the conversion for future use.

Yes, thats a good idea, only thing is I dont know another bongo owner near me yet alone one who would be prepared to lift his carpets for me?
Any volunteers out there ?
A measurement in from the sliding door to the start of the cover and a measurement in from the tailgate would be ideal?

A "nice creepy" phone call to one of the converters may get you that info. They are bound to have one sitting around with the carpets up. Suggest you get the measurment to the centre of the cover plate.

I did speak to the people who did the original conversion (I wont name names) who said it would it would be "very difficult" to remove his installation. Hmmmm.... A good idea though, I will have to think who to ring because I dont know any other converters.
