another hour spent today swearing at this thing and it finally came off - i just couldnt get the strap round well enough from underneath so i too the two bolt out of the black plastic tray underneath so i could get a better angle on it - reckon it had been superglued on - anyway done now ! would have been impossible by hand.
by the way the new filter supplied by BF is a little shorter than the one i replaced - not an issue i know but i was wondreing if it would be the one from japan ? its about an inch longer and gold in colour - my bongo has been in uk for 3 years so i am thinking the filter has never been changed ?

I remember mine being an awkward cuss when I changed it, though it yielded eventually. Glad its sorted.

Got a chain wrench for when it needs doing, hopefully that'll do the job when it comes to it.

Mine was very stiff.....(Did I just say that) and ended up using a strap, just to start her off.... ( Oh no, it's getting worse

)
I thought mine once removed was the original filter. The filter body was corroded and could not make out any writing on it.
Easy enough job though.

Remove Fuel Filter

Remove any air pipes that are in the way, now remove the inlet and outlet fuel pipes from the filter, remove the two bolts retaining the filter body to the bracket, remove filter assembly. Now fasten back onto bracket upside down so filter is sticking upwards, now you can remove any wires and get a strap round the old filter bowl, use two hands, pierce it with a screwdriver or whatever you decide to do to get the filter off.
After fitting the new filter bowl then re-assembly is simply a reverse of the dismantling as the Haynes manual would say.
No more than 20 - 30 mins at most I would say.

.................and when you refit it pour a can of injector cleaner in - it'll bleed easier and give the injectors a good seeing to................
