bmw cubby clock on ebay.easy to fit?

i`m thinking of buying this from ebay:

are they easy to fit,and do i need any additional mountings parts to fit a single din stereo?

yeah, they are easy to fit....

obviously a scrappy will probably be cheaper, but you need to get the lead as well......

I got one of these of off Hadyn, (I think he does club discount still, PM and ask him)... it was clean, was tested and worked, the lamp was changed to green, so for me, the hour and a half it saved, the diesel to the scrappys and then the messing about, was easily outweighed by the cost!

the wiring isn't quite a plug in job, but the wires you need to connect to are right there for the radio!

No they don't just plug in you have to hard wire them in but is an easy job. The ones you are looking at are good with different coulor bulbs ETC but I would still have a look around your local breakers, they come from E36 BMW's. The 3 series after the square ones I think from J plate.

You may be able to rummage round a scrapyard and pick up a clock for a bargin price. However I reckon the going price in most scrappies is £10. Then you have to get it home ,work out how to wire it in, perhaps try and solder wires if the plug is missing. Then hope it works.
I have had around 300 pass through my hands. The average price delivered to my house is approx £14. 10% don't work. That puts the price up to£15.50. Then they are cleaned, new bulb (£2) fitted if required (about 20% need a bulb) and wires soldered in and marked if the plug is missing (80% have the plug missing) then they are listed on ebay (£1.50) and sold with a unconditional 30 day warranty. If paypal is used then a £1.25 fee is deducted) They cost £2.08 to post and about 50p packing. I knock a couple of quid off to members. I reckon I break even to members and make £2/3 pounds on most transactions. It's only the sheer volume of sales that makes it worthwhile and the fact I quite enjoy messing about with them. I get a lot of calls from members who have got clocks from elsewhere and ask me to sort out/fix them. On top of all that you can have any colour bulb you want fitting for £2 extra. The bulbs cost £2 and the clock has to be dismantled to fit them and the orange filter removed. I can also supply the metal dial rings ,cheapest on ebay and cheaper still to members. White dials can also be supplied.
So. £24 delivered is not exactly getting me rich overnight. Use it or lose it.

and as you said Hadyn, I thought of it as a self employed person.... I could be out earning money with the time spent finding one at a breakers...... so on that basis it saved me something like £20 even before I tried to source a green lamp, and clean it (and pick the broken glass from the smashed bmw screen from my hands

)
even more if was at call out rate

you do have to modify the 2 little clips on the back of the clock though to get it to sit flat... mine bows a tiny bit... but aparthy and all that!

Good call there matey.

Mine does too, but a little bird told me to file a little off the edges of the top plastic lugs & it fits nice & snug.

This may not apply to all of them of course but it seems a fairly common trait.

I got mine from Haydn ,white dial, blue bulb. not worth the effort to do it myself. getting muddy ,cut, bruised ,just for a clock that might not work. get one from Haydn, save your blood sweat and swear word's for something else.

Got mine from Hadyn as well (at the same time as I got a coolant alarm). Easy to fit (had to file down the lugs slightly for a flush fit). Supplied with the bulb colour changed to match the dasboard display for the air-con. Very pleased with the result.

I agree MH, but, much like mazda 323 foglight switches and the like,scrappies seem to have "caught on" with regards to such sought after bongo items, and have quadrupled the price as a result...

When you weigh up the options, you may as well opt for a tried and tested clock from a forum member that knows all the in's and outs with em!

I have a nice pimped, silver surrounded,blue led' white dialled Haydn clock...

I was in my local breakers the Friday before Cartmel looking for a 626 speedo for mister munkey, unfortunately I didn't get one but I did get a illuminated fog light switch from a 323 that fit the larger switch holes by your right knee for £1.
So luckily my breakers haven't cottoned on yet
