Can one of you guys tell me what tyre pressure i should be @?

I'd try 36 PSI all round and see how it feels, then adjust up or down from there to get it to your liking.

I have mine at 42 but they feel a bit hard going to try 40
then down to 38 if they still feel hard but I like them a bit
on the hard side.

Nice 1 fella’s, I have so many questions! This is because I have had a shit mechanic who's ripped the piss out of me. I'm having to check everything myself. He had my tyre pressure @ 170 for all four, lol just come out of its MOT and service. My head feels like it's going to explode!

Anyhow I have now reset the pressure 40 for the back and 38 @ the front, what a difference...Stayed tuned for more questions, still trying to find a Bongo friendly garage in the Edinburgh area....

This is something I looked into a bit, loads of posts on it.

On a 2WD V6 petrol I found the best for me to be 34 at the front and 36 or 38 at the back depending on the load I'm carrying.

Less and the tyres looked well flat and more I found it a bit skittish.

I was running high 30s on my 205/65/15s and found the centre of the rears wearing alarmingly so I dropped them back to 34

The label on my door has 1.8 bar pressure which is only 26psi :S

I can honestly say that i'm delighted to see that a thread on tyres has remained amicable!

Some people get so worked up over this subject, that they change sex and return as a female!

As a general rule, Mazda/fords figures for tyre pressures seem to be a little low, remember that the bongo left the factory with a unique tyre designed just for the bongo,so the tyre pressures on the door pillar would be a figure for those original tyres i guess.

And i hope nobody is still using the originals?

A "suck it and see" philosophy seems to be the order of the day here,after much experimentation, (like kirsty)i settled on 38 psi when i was on 15"s, i now run 45psi on my 225/45/18's, and they can still look a little soft when parked kerbside.

Different tyres have different characteristics/compounds/wear rates/grip etc...the same applies to variables with the pressures.

I tend to drop 2psi on all my vehicles at this time of year,then return to "normal" pressures as the weather improves

my first rear tyres (japs) wore in the middle and the garage said they were over inflated??? I had them about 36-38. This worried me with my new boots but if I dont pu 38ish in there the motor feels completely different. Any truth do you think in what the garage said?

Over-inflated tyres do wear in the middle of the tread but, as bigdaddycain said, tyres vary so much that it's often a question of experimenting to find the best compromise between wear and handling.

Same as I mentioned in my earlier post ramsay

I've all 4 at 36 psi, but I may drop them down a wee bit, as it makes it feel a wee bit light on the road.
