Bongo Fury

Morning all.

I seem to have no front heating. The rear works fine and the air con at rear works fine. I am guessing the blower/fan is not working at the front. I am a total novice where mechanics are involved although am happy to tinker about and learn. Would I be right to think that the fan is behind the dash? Is it eacy to remove and replace?? Any general assistance welcome. I have searched the forums but found nothing related.

There's a fact sheet in the member's area showing the fuse boxes - check number 17 in the box under the bonnet.
The fan is also under the bonnet and mounted on the bulkhead (just follow the black plastic ducting). It is a fairly common problem for the fan to fail if you don't keep the drain hole, in the panel under the wipers, clear. Water collects and overflows in to the fan motor, causing it to seize up.

Mine had flooded & siezed last year, if you unclip the scoop under the bonnet, you should be able to reach in through the inlet & see if the fan spins ( with the power off of course)with any resistance or noise. If it spins & sounds ok, check the resistor as per the factsheet. If it doesn't move or sounds/feels horrible, it's fairly easy to remove the plastic casing with the fan inside & then strip, clean, free up & regrease the fan if the damage isn't too much, good opportunity to hoover out the matrix (carefully without bending/squashing the vanes) & clean the ducting. Before stripping the fan, make sure it doesn't work by putting 12v across it direct to spin it up. Try & take photos as you strip if you do to aid reassembly & then stick on the forum afterwards , I didn't have a camera at the time

Check down by your left foot. You will see some metal "rod" linkages. They have a habit of slipping out of their plastic arms...easy to fit back.
