Bongo Fury

I have lost my tail lights front and rear also the dash light and fog lights. Everything else is working (headlights etc). I have changed the fuse #8 with one known to work but this did not resolve the issue.
It may not be connected but I recently had the battery changed at Halfords and wonder if its anything to do with this or the large black box attached to the + cable connector at the battery terminal. Are there any relays that may have caused this?

there is a fuse box under the bonnet with a few 100 amp fuse that may be your problem as it has been reported to blow before

Thanks for that, any idea where the 100amp fuses are located? Is it in the box attached to the + lead on battery?

george, have you recently changed your radio / cd player ?

No radio/cd has been in place for two years. However, why is that likely to be responsible?

on the mazda wiring loom is a wire for side lights, if you wire onto this like i did when fitting a new dvd / cd player it blows the fuse to the rear tail lights , front side lights & dash lights, i would be tempted to check fuse 8 again with a meter / continuity tester, i hope you sort it soon, lee

Hi Is this fuse 8 15Amp under bonnet that you have changed as this seems to be the correct culprit. ( third one up on left) Apart from that

Thanks to you both re radio/cd and fuse 8 checking again. I swaped this one with a working 15amp fuse to check so have ruled this out I am wondering if as a result of the battery change something else has broken? However, I will do as sugggested and get the fuse location checked with a meter.

I know you've said you've replaced the number 8 fuse already, but your symptoms sound identical to mine when my no. 8 fuse went last week. Seems too much of a coincidence.

Did the good fuse you put in come out ok still or could it perhaps have blown too? My problem was a wire shorting out in one of my parking poles, so until I'd sussed that out I'd have been blowing no. 8 fuses all day.

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately for me the fuse that I used to test #8 when replaced in its original position was still intact. Also when I used the original #8 fuse in the new location that worked also (used the 15 amp blinds on the internal board), so its not blown fuses in my case.

I have ordered the cd with wireing diags as its only a tenner. Also searches on the internet in general seem to point at either one of the larger fuses or a problem with the under bonnet fuse box itself. Wil post when I get the answer and I will.

I bet the foglight is to blame for this, try disconnecting the foglight wiring at the back of the switch,and at the light also...it's quite common for this to happen with a bongo, and the culprit is often the foglight wiring... If you still have no joy, check the foglight wiring where it comes through the body of the bongo. The connections are likely to be touching somewhere,which in turn will blow the fuse under the "rear" (lights) fuse under the bonnet.

Would agree with BDC, mine was a nightmare waiting to happen, the way it was routed through the body with no grommet, wouldn't have been long before it was shorting. Definatley worth checking.

Thanks re the foglight option. I will investigate this but am not sure that its the cause of my problem as the fuses are not blowing. I have also now put a tester across the fuse location and it shows a voltage when the lights are switched on. If the foglight does not resolve this then I think its going to be an auto electrician. Will let you all know the results.

Sorry george, i forgot about the fuse not blowing... Hmm, curiouser & curiouser....

have you unscrewed the fuse box?, have a look behind it, the wire may be loose/broken that goes to the number 8 fuse

it might be getting power going to it but not coming out to the lights
