Bongo Fury

Whilst sitting in the surgery tonight I read an interesting piece of info on how the wrong PSi could be contributing to poor fuel efficiency.

It says "a car driving at 56mph on rubber that is under inflated by 14psi uses an extra three percent fuel according to Michelin".

A correctly inflated tyre will last up to 5200 miles more than that which is under inflated by 10 per cent, "quickfit"

It may be true, it may not, but I know I will be adding this to the weekly check, Tyre pressures....

you should check you tyres every week just like I do

Underinflated by 14 psi would make the Bongo downright dangerous never mind use more fuel!

It was one of the things drummed into us on the police driving courses, tyre pressures are exremely important if not life and fuel saving. I check mine every week as a matter of habit along with water, oil, lights etc. It is amazing how just one under inflated tyre can have such a dramatic effect on steering and cornering. Incidentally many vehicles involved in road accidents were found to have under inflated tyres. Not only that a lot of people never increase the tyre pressures when they are carrying a heavy load as they should, just because of the inconvenience of re adjusting afterwards.
