Rear 12v socket

Whilst installing a water pump and microswitched tap, I got my wires crossed and fused the rear 12v socket. As per forum pages, remedy appears to be to remove the inline fuse and re-assemble without it (as the top right 15A fuse in the glovebox area is o.k. and in any case only serves wing mirrors and front lighter socket.)
The problem is it's impossible to push/shove the rear assembly through the hole to examine, even with the storage tray removed.
How do you get at it? Or is there another fuse somewhere that simply needs replacing?

So you're trying to get the rear 12v socket out of the panel? I think you need to pull it out of the panel i.e. into the van. I think its just a push fit, so some gentle persuasion with a flat bladed screwdriver under the rim should release it.

However, I've never tried removing it, so can't say 100% that is the correct answer. Good luck

If you havent built a kitchen unit in front of it, just pull the panel away from the side of the van - only spring clips holding it on (plus the bottom bolt on the seat belt).

Thanks for replies. I have already fitted kitchen across the rear ie: parallel with bench seat, so therefore reluctant to remove. In any case, reasonable access can be obtained by removing the storage tray. My problem is:- How can you push the assembly through the hole in the panel to examine it. My rear socket consists of a normal 12v socket plus above it the Japanese 2 pin mains socket. I can assure you, after many hours with screwdriver etc: it can't be pushed into the van or out of the panel. As it stands I may as well go back to water jug and washing up bowl.

I installed my kitchen unit to the drivers side and ran a heavier wire to the rear on that side and stuck a 4 way lighter socket to the side to plug the sink into.

you could do this on the passenger side and not use the existing socket,

I have it switched in the front so it can be live with out the ignition on

got to be better than a jug

I assume you mean take an extension from the front socket. I have thought of this, but don't want the extra wiring (good suggestion though) and wish to repair my rear dual socket. Surely I can't be the only one in Bongoland to have fused it!
Any more suggestions most welcome.

No I took a feed direct from the battery via a switch on the dash with an inline fuse of course.
