I need an alarm system

Help. We have only had our bongo about three weeks.
Someone broke into it last night while I took my son swimming.
They just drilled straight through the passenger lock. They took the Japanese stereo which only picks up some channels and they forgot the CD unit under the back seat. Ha.
Its probably an insurance job and hopefully we will be back on the road again soon.
But anyone with any advice on fitting an alarm? I think we are going to need one.

Bongos are easy to fit alarms to if you know your way around car electrics a little bit. All connections can be found under the steering column or in the o/s/f kick panel. To do remote central locking requires a solenoid (motor) to be fitted in the door (unless you already have remote CDL)
Alternatively I deal with auto electricians all over the country so may be able to find someone local to supply and fit one for you.
If you want a standard Bongo radio cassette you are welcome to my old one as I have fitted a JVC DAB system to mine
Good luck
Steve

have a look at
http://www.thatcham.org and also
http://www.clifford.co.uk.
we have a clifford alarm fitted to our bongo and would recommend them, installation included central locking and a host of other optional extras.

Its actually THATCHAM (as in the town near Newbury). Having installed alarms for several years I would shy away from Clifford as I find them over complicated and unreliable. Try Metasystem or Cobra if I were you

Hi ma-hale
Not sure any alarm will put off anyone who's desperate enough to steal
an original Bongo sound system
We've got an all singing and dancing CaT 1 Clifford alarm which does far more than we need, features include central locking on the remote, and a adjustable proximity sensor that squawks if anyone hangs round to near the outside of your Bongo. Alarm can also be used with windows open and even with roof up, which I understand can be a problem with some alarms.
Best bit is a really cool fluorescent blue led light
which wakes you up when you sleep in it, so you have to cover it up
Haven't found reliability an issue so far .
Cheers pj
