side door lock sticking - any ideas?

My sliding door lock is sticking and will not unlock with the central locking but will unlock on the key or from inside pullig up the lock. Where do I start to get it working right?
Do I need to pull off all the door trim?

First thing I'd check is that the electric contact buttons on the door and frame aren't dirty or sticking aitch.

there are 5 contacts on the side door only 3 are supposed to be raised and springy
dont try and force the others

If it's not the springy door contacts you may well have to take the door trim off,if it's not electrical, ie broken or loose wire, it could just be the linkage from the actuator has broken or disconnected? If it is the actuator itself that is fubar, I have a couple of spare ones that may do the job from the central locking kit I bought. They aren't Mazda ones but they may fit.

the contacts do look a little dirty do I clean them with a wire brush or sand paper or WHAT????? I'm not sure what to use? Thanks for the answers so far people, always get a response on here even if it then means I'm more confused.

fine emery cloth ,or very fine sandpaper at a push, just enough to buff up the ends to make a good contact.

cleaned the contacts the door will now lock on the centeral ocking system but not unlock. The button half lifts but will not go all the way up unless i unlock on the key? back to square one any further ideas as i don't fancy taking the panel off?

Hi I had this problem decided to fit new actuater works fine now.
Take Miss fix it offer. There is room to fit actuater leaving original in place. Just need to transfer wires. Messy job because of the black sealing stuff round trim. Good luck Brian

There is information in the fact sheet section for removing door trim I think. When the trim is removed you can sit inside with the door shut and watch what moves. The rod that moves upwards is the one that you need to attach the new actuator to with the joiner that comes with it. You need to bend the new rod to line up next to original and fix actuator to a convenient space then transfer two wires from original. Not as difficult as it sounds just messy with the black stuff.
