electric window switch not working

Hi I don't know if anyone can help,my drivers window switch isn't working-I've looked at the wiring between the door and switch, it looks intact.
When I press the switch it makes a buzzing sound,(from the area right underneath the lever that you activate it with) but neither windows budge at all!
Does this mean my switch is knackered.I've seen that the switch from a mazda 323 fits,does anyone know how much this costs?
I'm not technical so try and keep it simple!

have you checked the wires between the door pillar and the door, they often chaffe there, if not a new switch is 100+, ebay aropund 75 second hand, your best off scouring the scrap yards

Welcome to the madhouse.
Does the passenger window work with it's own switch? If so, you may have a break in the wiring between the driver's door and the frame - it's a common problem.

The passengers switch is working ok.I have looked at the wires and they seem ok. What about the buzzing noise, does that indicate anything? Probably that its broken I suppose!

could even be the motor itself, ifyou can hear it trying to do sumat, the motor may be jammed

Wave if its anything like mine you will have to physically look at all the wires and there are loads, they are very fine too, it took me ages to find the break in mine and they looked fine. What a bloody job.

when i fixed mine last week i had busted wires and a broken switch.
i would say do not assume the wires are not busted, most of mine were still together but was only when i applied a little pressure that some more snapped.

Is there anyone local who could try thier swich on your van? Easy way to eliminate the switch.

The wires do not have to be broken on the outside to loose continuity. The inner can breakdown causing a break in the circuit even of the outside looks ok.

Thanks for all the advice- sounds like a nightmare! The best idea seems to be to borrow a switch, there's loads of bongos in Plymouth and S.E Cornwall,I'll just flag one down and ask for a loan!!!
At least its winter and doesn't matter too mach at the moment.
